Lagoon

I know the UK has been having some warm weather - well it only falls into the 'warm' category if you live anywhere that shares a latitude with Spain (I'm actually thinking Japan here, not Australia ... obviously) - and here in Cairns they have a facility that Brits would die for just now. The Esplanade is a pretty spectacular project and the Lagoon (click on the photos for larger images) is the centerpiece of the whole development. It spans some 4 hectares and is capable of accommodating 1000 swimmers at a time. Furthermore, it is open from dawn to dusk and ... wait for it ... it's free for locals and visitors. Ace!
