Why would you want to? Well they explain everything on their website, so get practising for 'Talk Like a Pirate Day' on Friday 19 September.

Any idea how to download this stuff onto a CD from my PC?
Cheers,
Thomas
Posted by: Thomas at September 17, 2003 03:53 PMHi Thomas,
The resident web guru is currently galavanting through the States and London, but I'm sure as soon as he is back he'll be able to tell you if it is possible to save a 'streaming file'. I think it can be done, just can't remember how. Have you tried 'right clicking -> save link target as'?
Posted by: Joe at September 17, 2003 04:08 PMHi Joe,
I tried the right click, and that didn't work.
However, since I can play the music on my PC, I think there must be a way to record it while playing it.
How do you make recordings of those radio shows and save them on CDs?
Cheers,

Err ... that was a thing called Napster!
Posted by: Joe at September 17, 2003 08:08 PMBack from the galavantin'!
In general, most types of streaming allow client saving to be either enabled or disabled. If it's disabled, then the regular client software associated with that stream type is prevented from saving the stream.
There may be shareware or freeware alternatives, however, which allow you to save the stream. First, determine which software is used to view the stream (e.g., Windows Media Player, Real). Then do a web search for software which handles the same media streams. You may find something.
Note that I condone neither attempts to block saving of streams nor attempts to route around these blocks. (In fact, I don't much care for streaming itself!)
Posted by: DJ at September 18, 2003 05:55 AMJoe Bloggs doesn't condone any of that stuff either, but like a little trucker I know keeps saying 'knowledge is power'.
Posted by: Joe at September 18, 2003 10:10 AMOh, and a warm welcome back to galavantin guru! :+)
Posted by: Joe at September 18, 2003 10:11 AMI'd say 'It's good to be back', but in fact I was having a lot of fun and am sorry it's over!
Posted by: DJ at September 18, 2003 10:38 AMI was also going to list Talk Like a Pirates Day on my blog! I guess word is spreading ...
If you don't mind, I am still going to list it. Aaarr!!
Posted by: Vaneta at September 19, 2003 08:54 AMGo for it. It certainly will be more timely and your readers might even talk about it. ;+)
Posted by: Joe at September 19, 2003 01:53 PMHi DJ,
Thank you for sharing your technical saavy.
I'd be just as happy to pay for the music, but I really don't have a clue as to how to handle music on my PC.
I'll get back to you after learing more about the basics.
Also, if you get a chance, check out the tunes (see link, apna boyz prod of edm).
Cheers,
Thomas
