Northern Hemisphere Thang

"Britons think they are the only ones who talk about the weather, but it is a northern hemisphere thing."

So says a Danish born Olafur Eliasson who has an installation at the Tate Modern dealing with the weather. Mr. Eliasson is certainly correct when he dismisses the suggestion that the topic of weather is solely a British pastime, the Japanese are equal masters. I'm looking forward to checking this installation out the week after next.

Here's the Beeb article that prompted the entry.

There's certainly nothing as endearing as hearing your companion say, 'Gee, it's hot' for the hundred and fifty-eighth time, is there.

Let's hope the weather holds out. ;-)

God dammit. It's getting cold here in Finland. Need to change my car tyres to winter type in the next few days as the temperature is getting to subzero levels.

I don't like the winter, me. If I was rich, I'd be leaving to Spain or southern France about this time and come back in late April or thereabouts.

And yes, we Finns like to speak about the weather as well...

BTW, Joe, could it be possible to create a system that helps us readers notice the new comments since the last visit? I just left a comment to an older entry, but I bet most people won't even notice it.

There is a way to show he latest comments and I will implement it (after a bit of research) when I get back. In fact my whole site needs an overhaul, but I'm not really familiar enough with html to do it. :+( I do know what I want though.
