"The typical Internet user is an avid reader of books and spends more time engaged in social activities than the non-user. And, television viewing is down among some Internet users by as much as five hours per week compared with Net abstainers."
That's what a study carried out by the UCLA Center for Communication Policy reckons, but does the above describe you adequately?
Posted by Joe at January 15, 2004 10:04 PMAvid reader of books, check. Rarely watch television.
Social activities? Who he?
Posted by: DJ at January 15, 2004 11:54 PMHmm, not exactly. I watch telly while I surf. Read a bit, not so much at the moment. What's a social activity again?
Posted by: Lisa at January 16, 2004 07:30 AMReading - Can't get enough of it.
TV - The less the better.
Internet - Exerts no influence over the above other than that I buy books from Amazon. Surfing is either a chore related to work or a mere distraction (albeit an addictive one), which is part and parcel of my love/hate relationship with the PC world. To be truthful I think I am a closet Luddite.
Note that I did not even bother to mention "social activities." Such things are just a vague memory.
Posted by: martin at January 16, 2004 09:37 AMSo 2004 is the year we all go out and get a social life. Though I have feeling it has nothing to do with how much, or little, time we spend on the Net. :+(
