The Merriam-Webster dictionary says 'blog' was the most looked up word on its website over the last year. My personal favourites are Nos. 2 (incumbent), 7 (peloton),and 8 (partisan),though. Nos. 2 and 8 because they clearly baffled some American this year, and No. 7 because ... well what sports fan could resist!
Oh! and the Merriam-Webster definition of 'blog' is: noun [short for Weblog] (1999): a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer.
It's always good when visitors get to experience an earthquake. The small ones usually elicit an 'ooooh', but the big ones raise more than the eyebrows. Granddad Bloggs and Sister Bloggs hardly noticed the first (smaller) one, but the second (bigger) one had them writing emails telling the world. A mere 4.1 on the Richter scale didn't even wake the Bloggs boys, but the visitors will probably be talking about it all the way home.
